Wednesday, 6/7/17 (Part 1) - Augusta, GA to Columbia, SC

Similar to hurricane season, Opening Day has passed.

We're here! We're in Columbia, SC to see the Columbia Fireflies (A for the New York Mets) swat away at the Lexington Legends (A for the Kansas City Royals). They play in the Sally (South Atlantic League).

Our stamp

The field

Digging the logo

What could that mean???

It all makes sense now.

We were surprised that a single A team gets ESPN coverage. Why would that be?

The Mason Jar

Stephanie and bobblehead Mason, just in case we don't see "real" Mason.

Palmettos are bugs, too. Ew,

Getting in our exercise at the ballpark.

Uh-oh. Camp group season has begun.

This might be the only way to get through camp group season at the ballpark.

View from the outfield.

These are very important players to Stephanie.

A non-bouncy mist house.

The red group.

We don't know what building this is but it sure is pretty!

The kids enter and exit the bouncy house through his foot.

This is apparently a delicacy in these parts: Pimento Cheese Sandwich. Yuk.

Fight! Fight!

They take dental care and base care very seriously.

This guy looks like a friend of ours. Hi Rob lookalike!

Wha?

This is not a name.

The Fireflies are hosting this year's All Star Game! It's disappointing that it's not a Y'All Star Game like last year in Florence.

Hey! What?

Oh. They have to shake out the ping pong balls that are in the tissue boxes that are strapped to their bums. OK then.

Never not funny

Local boy does good! This kid is a Columbia native.

Look! It's not-a-name Jay Jabs (#7) with some other player. #15...former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.

It seems these kids like Tebow better than Jabs.

These kids like him too. We've seen this t-shirt before being worn by local NYC celebrity and newscaster Roger Clark. He wore it when we saw him play with his band Perp Walk.

He didn't play today but look who's coaching first base!

Infield

Fly Guys?

Oh my

It looks like bounce house Mason is blessing the bullpen.

Yay beer!

Hurry! Time is running out (on 1/2 price beer)!

Also not a name. Maybe he should play in Winston-Salem.

What sort of blast?

(Fake) chicken launcher. We hope the chicken is fake!

(Real) launched chicken catchers. We hope they're real!

Us! There! With a teensy-tinsy Tim Tebow between us.

HOW MANY?

Good guess.

Hey...isn't that also a quarterback???

Fireflies win!

Congrats!

Lex/33 is our stop on the 6 train in NYC.

Bzzzzz

Yay! The "real" Mason!
